About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team at BNSF Railway. As a key member of our Engineering Department, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of railroad track equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Disassemble, repair, modify, overhaul, remanufacture, and troubleshoot railroad track equipment machinery and their operating and control systems.
  • Work with hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems, including compressors, control valves, air braking systems, and dryers.
  • Diagnose and repair issues with gasoline and diesel engines, fuel systems, and driveline components.
  • Operate large manual hand tools and electric, pneumatic, or hydraulic hand tools, as well as backhoes, trenchers, and other heavy equipment.
Working Conditions
  • Work in extreme all-weather conditions, including loud noise and fumes.
  • Walk and perform work on uneven surfaces, and work on and around heavy/moving machinery.
  • Occasionally climb ladders, get on/off equipment, and work from various heights.
Requirements
  • 21 years of age or older.
  • Able to work safely in extreme weather conditions.
  • Able to work the required shift/hours and meet travel requirements.
  • Able to read, write, and communicate in English.
  • Possess a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with HAZMAT and air brake endorsements or able to obtain one within the first 60 days of employment.
