Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Janitorial Specialist to maintain the cleanliness and organization of our facilities, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for our employees and visitors.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain floors, walls, and fixtures, including sweeping, scrubbing, waxing, polishing, and vacuuming
• Dust and clean furniture, woodwork, and other equipment
• Empty and clean waste containers
• Perform custodial and basic maintenance work as requested by management
• Maintain equipment used in the course of work and report any safety, sanitary, or fire hazards
• Requisition custodial supplies and materials
• Secure buildings at the end of the day by turning off lights and locking doors
• Answer emergency calls and take appropriate actions to protect and preserve property
• Perform other utility work as assigned, such as moving supplies, furniture, and equipment, and assisting with heavy lifting
• Store and dispose of chemicals following appropriate procedures

Requirements

• Knowledge of methods of cleaning and preserving floors, walls, and fixtures
• Ability to use tools required in custodial and minor maintenance work, including electrical cleaning equipment
• Ability to clean and care for custodial equipment
• Basic safety rules and safe work practices
• Ability to follow and understand oral and written instructions
• Ability to perform heavy manual work
• Ability to interact with the public tactfully and appropriately
• Ability to perform physical requirements of the job
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
• Ability to communicate clearly

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience performing a variety of custodial duties
• Equivalent to the completion of specialized training in building maintenance or a related field
