Position Overview:


Wheatland Tube, a division of Zekelman Industries, is looking for several Manufacturing Team Leaders for the night shift, reporting directly to the Operations Manager.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, procedures, and personal protective equipment (PPE) standards.
  • Lead the hourly workforce by utilizing effective leadership techniques to achieve production targets and objectives, including administering disciplinary actions when necessary.
  • Foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement through active observation and team engagement.
  • Report any workplace injuries to management, conduct investigations into incidents, and complete necessary documentation.
  • Drive the plant's quality goals by ensuring products meet both customer and internal specifications through thorough inspections of products and processes.
  • Assist in equipment setup and adjustments as needed.
  • Identify and resolve operational and equipment issues to enhance quality and efficiency.
  • Facilitate training to ensure all team members are equipped to meet quality standards, including understanding the safety features of their specific machinery and tools.
  • Manage daily staffing needs, including reassignments and mandatory overtime as required.
  • Review daily operational reports to communicate any manufacturing, maintenance, or shift-related issues to the management team to avoid operational disruptions.
  • Perform payroll and production system tasks as needed.
  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives and yield enhancement projects.
  • Lead regular team meetings to communicate updates and provide training.
  • Carry out other related responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate's Degree is required; a Bachelor's degree is preferred. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with a leadership role.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Mathematical Proficiency:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and apply these concepts to real-world situations.

Analytical Skills:
Ability to identify problems, gather data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Capable of interpreting a wide range of technical instructions in both mathematical and diagrammatic forms, and managing various abstract and concrete variables.


Communication Skills:

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to listen and convey information effectively to understand and address the needs of customers and team members.

Proficient in reading and interpreting documents, as well as writing and submitting purchase orders and communicating with team members.

Technical Skills:
Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and internal business applications. Familiarity with bar-coding management is essential; SAP experience is a plus.

Consistent and reliable onsite attendance according to the established schedule is a fundamental aspect of this role.
