General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars.

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Autonomy Architect in Dayton, OH to develop and deploy end-to-end autonomous systems that enable unmanned aerial systems (UAS) to execute autonomous missions.

Job Summary:

  • Technical leader responsible for driving vision, strategy, and technical direction of team's autonomy projects.
  • Lead development of robotic autonomy algorithms capable of making robust decisions for planning and control in uncertain, dynamic environments multi-vehicle operations using state-of-the-art techniques from academia and industry.
  • Research academic papers and translate research into implementable software solutions.
  • Write and test software to support the integration of autonomy algorithms into aircraft or other robotic systems.
  • Design and prototype autonomous systems and validate designs through a series of purpose-designed experiments.
  • Participate in and coordinate the establishment of design concepts, criteria, and engineering efforts for product research, development, testing, and integration.
  • Interact with internal and external representatives at various levels concerning resolution of technical and scheduling issues.
  • Ensure technical leadership and excellence is maintained by participating in the planning, attraction, selection, retention, and development of required management, professional, and technical talent.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in software system architecture fundamentals, experience in developing and leading scalable software architectures from scratch, and demonstrated technical leadership experience.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related discipline and two or more years progressive software development experience.
  • Strong coding skills in Java, JavaScript, C/C++, Python.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to architect, design, and develop complex software.
  • Ability to resolve complex management and technical problems.
  • Customer focused, able to work on a self-initiated basis and in a team environment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.

Estimated Salary: $93,452 - $160,591
