About This Role
The Senior Equipment Reliability Specialist plays a crucial role in managing the life cycle of our assets. This position is responsible for monitoring the performance of equipment and proactively addressing any issues that may affect system reliability. Collaborating closely with the Plant Engineering team, you will develop maintenance strategies aimed at optimizing equipment functionality. This role will also lead root cause analyses, investigate equipment failures, and create predictive forecasts to enhance system performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze data from corrective work orders within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and Quality Event Metrics (QEM) to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
- Evaluate the risk and reliability of assets related to manufacturing and support systems, including conducting failure mode analysis and calculating mean time to failure (MTTF) and mean time to repair (MTTR).
- Develop and maintain a Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) strategy to enhance maintenance programs in your designated area.
- Engage in the development and execution of continuous improvement initiatives.
- Establish and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to assess the overall health of critical utility and process systems, creating tools to evaluate these KPIs.
- Implement measures to establish baseline maintenance performance and set improvement targets related to cost, quality, and downtime.
- Provide reliability, technical, and engineering support to optimize asset longevity and resolve equipment design and operational issues.
- Collaborate with various departments, including Manufacturing, Maintenance, and Validation, to identify and resolve challenges while ensuring reliability is integrated throughout the facility.
- Conduct training sessions and present information to team members and stakeholders as necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Who You Are
You possess a keen ability to monitor equipment performance and effectively mitigate issues related to system and equipment reliability.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in Engineering and/or Maintenance.
- Familiarity with Engineering drawings and Quality Systems, including deviation management and corrective and preventive action (CAPA).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Advanced problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to present complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
- Willingness to collaborate with global colleagues and lead sub-teams.
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and regulatory standards.
- Understanding of Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).
- Familiarity with process improvement methodologies such as PDCA, LEAN, and Six Sigma.
- Knowledge of utility systems in a pharmaceutical environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with at least 6 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in a cGMP environment or other regulated industries.
- Proficiency in implementing KPIs and reliability metrics.
- Certification as a Maintenance and Reliability Professional.
- Six Sigma certification.
Working Conditions
This position may require working in environments necessitating specific safety precautions, including hearing protection and respiratory protection. The role may involve operating machinery and conducting tasks that require physical endurance and dexterity.
