About the Role

23andMe's Core Engineering team is seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our Ancestry team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining features that provide users with a deeper understanding of their genetic heritage, connect them with relatives, and offer fascinating visualizations into their ancestral roots.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop secure, high-quality, and testable code on time
  • Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams on the strategic vision for our product roadmap
  • Thoughtfully decompose functional and technical requirements into clean architectures and designs
  • Design and build delightful and engaging consumer-facing experiences that help customers understand their results and take action toward living healthier lives
  • Design APIs for cloud applications
  • Drive technical excellence through code and design reviews
  • Evolving and improving existing backend systems to support our ambitious product roadmap
  • Mentor other engineers and become an important part of the tapestry of our engineering culture
Requirements
  • BS in Engineering or a related field with a minimum of 6 years real-world, industry experience building, delivering, and maintaining production quality code
  • Experience with Python or a similar language and a full-stack web application framework
  • Track record of delivering high-quality, scalable consumer applications
  • Understanding of web security and cryptography concepts
  • A team player attitude with comfort operating in a highly collaborative environment
  • Passion for scalable high-quality software and excellent user experiences
  • Willingness to learn, lead, mentor, and take responsibility
