Trinity Health Livonia is seeking a skilled Patient Care Technician to join our Surgical Progressive Unit. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to provide high-quality patient care and work collaboratively with our experienced nursing staff.

Job Summary

Under the direction of a registered nurse, the Patient Care Technician is responsible for providing direct patient care, considering the patient's age-specific, developmental, cultural, and spiritual needs. The successful candidate will demonstrate unit-designated competencies and assist in establishing a patient care environment that is clean, safe, and conducive to patient/family well-being.

Key Responsibilities
  • Performs nursing care as delegated by the RN, including vital sign collection, pain assessment, and application of support/orthopedic devices.
  • Assists patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, showering, toileting, positioning, turning, transferring, and ambulation.
  • Provides care for restrained patients, including general care, application of restraints, and ongoing monitoring.
  • Assists with preparing the body following death and provides care for patients with Foley catheters.
  • Participates in establishing and maintaining a patient care environment that is clean, safe, and conducive to patient/family well-being.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum one year of previous direct care experience (acute or long-term) or successful completion of CENA, PCT, MA, or EMT course.
  • Student nurses must have completed their nursing fundamentals class of a BSN program.
