Job Title: Construction Field Engineer

At Succession Planning for Railroads Investing in the Next Generation, we are seeking a highly skilled Construction Field Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our construction management team, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful execution of our rail projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Input schedules and prepare field work packages
  • Compile as-built data and verify installation quantities
  • Perform field safety and quality inspections
  • Conduct procurement quantity takeoffs
  • Compile daily reports in construction management software
  • Coordinate with Document Control to ensure proper documentation
  • Assist Superintendent with material deliveries
  • Perform field verifications, inspections, and measurements
  • Work closely with document control and field personnel to ensure they have the latest drawings and installation documents
  • Provide schedule update information to project scheduler
  • Ensure work is correctly cost-coded and extra work is coded to separate cost codes as assigned
  • Update drawings with redlines of as-built information
  • Attend necessary briefings and safety meetings
Requirements:
  • Construction Engineering degree or equivalent work experience
  • 2-5 years of railroad construction experience preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • AutoCAD skills a plus
  • Construction management course work or internship experience a plus
  • Flexibility to work in both office and field environments
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with a team
  • Strong organization skills
  • Highly motivated
Pre-Employment Requirements:
  • Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review
  • Subject to pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen
  • Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing
Physical Requirements:
  • Perform light work, occasionally exerting up to 20 pounds of force
  • Able to walk on uneven surfaces
  • Occasionally ascend/descend step ladders and/or stairs
  • Regularly sit and stand for an extended period of time
  • Regularly kneel, bend, and squat
  • Must successfully pass color/vision examinations
  • Must be able to hear and distinguish auditory signals
  • Able to work in conditions with loud noise and work on/around heavy/moving machinery
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
