Job Title: Electrical Estimator

The Electrical Estimator is integral to assessing project costs associated with various electrical systems, including pumping stations, pipelines, fire and gas systems, and control mechanisms. This role encompasses the analysis of bid documents, proposal creation, and the management of the bidding process from start to finish. Responsibilities include developing comprehensive project budgets, evaluating technical plans, drafting proposals, and ensuring the accuracy and profitability of submitted bids. The Electrical Estimator also seeks out strategies to improve bidding competitiveness while fostering strong relationships with clients and suppliers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze bid documents to define project scope
  • Prepare precise and competitive bid proposals
  • Estimate project costs while considering specific job conditions
  • Generate material takeoffs and solicit quotes
  • Engage in estimating and project meetings
  • Address conflicts arising during the bidding process
  • Conduct project closeout procedures and reviews
  • Provide insights to assist in project scheduling
  • Travel to project sites to support bid efforts and project teams
  • Contribute to the development of work execution strategies
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or GED required; Post-Secondary education preferred
  • Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience as an electrical estimator preferred
  • Proficiency in estimating software applications
  • 10 years of electrical craft experience preferred
  • OSHA 10 certification required
  • H2S certification required
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screening
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • In-depth knowledge of cost estimation within the oil and gas sector
  • Familiarity with Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)
  • Expertise in electrical bids for commercial and industrial projects
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and make decisions under pressure
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional problem-solving capabilities
  • Self-driven and capable of working independently
  • Excellent follow-up and time management skills
  • Ability to collaborate professionally with team members and clients
  • Willingness to work extended hours when necessary
Physical Demands/Work Environment:

The role requires the ability to perform various tasks, including typing, speaking, lifting, walking, and reaching. Visual acuity must be adequate to safely execute all responsibilities. The work environment may vary from office settings to occasional weekend or evening work, including on-site engagements during project rotations.
