Public Assistance Disaster Recovery Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Public Assistance Disaster Recovery Specialist to join our team at AECOM. As a key member of our disaster recovery team, you will be responsible for providing technical assistance to FEMA in the delivery of public assistance grants. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of these grants to affected communities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect, coordinate, and review applicant data to determine eligibility and priority of assignments.
- Support the communication process with applicants about their status, including scheduling regular meetings and tracking and following up on FEMA's requests.
- Coordinate the transmittal of documents through FEMA's Consolidated Resource Centers using a web-based tool.
- Support the claims process by reviewing and validating damage details, scopes of work, and costs with applicants.
- Participate in regular FEMA meetings by providing updates on work status and evaluating claims and making recommendations to FEMA.
- Assist with the development of the Determination Memo and communicating final determinations to applicants during close out.
- Conduct exit briefings with applicants and coordinate and complete basic to moderately complex site inspections to validate and record damage.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction, Engineering, or a related field with 4 years of related technical experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- Must have the technical knowledge base and experience in the discipline's standard concepts, principles, and techniques as well as in the design and/or construction of public infrastructure.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, Google Earth, and smartphone.
- Must be able to commit to travel assignments for up to 1 year in duration.
- Must have a valid driver's license and pass AECOM's motor vehicle records review.
Preferred Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree with 5 years of experience in a related field and professional registration or Bachelor's degree with 10 years of experience in a related field.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license.
- Construction-related experience a plus, such as civil engineers, structural engineers, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, environmental engineers/planners, coastal engineers, site inspectors, and architects.
- Prior FEMA PA and/or CRC experience preferred, including experience with and understanding of FEMA's PA Program and Policy Guide (PAPPG), the Stafford Act, 44 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), 2 CFR, Sandy Recovery Improvement Act (SRIA) Legislation, PA grant documentation review or project development experience, validating PA grant documentation, and developing or reviewing damage descriptions and dimensions, scopes of work, and cost estimates for PA grant applications.
- Experience using FEMA Grants Manager.
- Current DHS Public Trust clearance/badge.
