Job Title: Nursing Clinical Instructor

We are seeking a highly qualified Nursing Clinical Instructor to join our team at Oregon Coast Community College. As a Clinical Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching nursing students in a clinical setting, providing guidance and support to help them develop the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in their careers.

Responsibilities:
  • Teach nursing students in a clinical setting, using approved course outcome guides and accurate syllabi.
  • Prepare instructional materials as needed and meet all assigned classes.
  • Apply the college's values for teaching and learning, facilitating learning that applies to students' academic and career goals.
  • Encourage mutual responsibility for a supportive learning environment and provide effective teaching strategies in an environment that encourages student and instructor interaction.
  • Evaluate and grade student progress, maintaining accurate records of student enrollment, attendance, and scholastic progress.
Requirements:
  • Associate Degree in Nursing and currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor's in nursing program.
  • Current, unencumbered license to practice as a registered nurse through the Oregon State Board of Nursing.
  • Minimum three years recent, demonstrated registered nursing experience.
  • Ability to be approved to teach at designated clinical site(s).
  • Maintains currency in applicable certifications; subject matter domain, and developments in field(s) of expertise.
  • Possess current healthcare provider CPR certification and show evidence of required immunizations.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Medical-surgical nursing practice in acute care settings within the past three years.
  • Prior experience supervising nursing students in a clinical setting.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university.
Working Environment & Physical Requirements:

Assignments will include on site and off-site clinical teaching in Newport and Lincoln City. Travel between OCCC College sites, community sites and hospitals will be required multiple times throughout each term. Periodic travel and overnight stays outside of Lincoln County may be required for meetings, professional development, and other purposes.

Light physical exertion with occasional, moderate lifting, bending, stooping, and pulling. Ability to carry equipment and tools of moderate weight, using arms and hands.

Mobility to move between offices, classrooms, and building levels.

Ability to hear the conversational voice and effectively communicate responses.

Visual acuity to read and evaluate student work and complete and maintain various types of records.
