Position Overview:
Compensation for this role begins at $20.83 per hour.
Final salary will be based on experience, skills, and internal equity considerations.
A differential of $2.50/hour is available for 3rd shift work.
Role Summary:
The Emergency Care Support Specialist plays a vital role within the emergency department care team, working under the guidance of a registered nurse. This position involves executing fundamental patient care tasks to ensure the comfort, safety, and well-being of patients. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, monitoring vital signs, assisting patients with daily living activities, collecting specimens, performing ECGs, applying post-mold treatments, instructing on crutch usage, ensuring spinal immobilization, providing basic wound care, and observing patients for any physical or emotional changes. Additional responsibilities encompass documenting relevant information in patient records and collaborating with other team members to maintain a seamless continuum of care.

Essential Qualifications:
Education:
High School Diploma or GED
Licenses/Certifications:
Current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider CPR certification
Certified Nursing Assistant in the relevant state, or EMT-B certification in the state of Illinois
Preferred Qualifications:
At least 6 months of experience in a clinical healthcare setting
Effective communication skills in person, via telephone, and through electronic messaging
Experience in addressing the physical, emotional, and psycho-social needs of patients for a minimum of 6 months
