Job Summary

Craft Recruiting is seeking a skilled Excavation Equipment Operator to join our team. As an Excavation Equipment Operator, you will be responsible for operating a variety of heavy machinery and equipment to excavate, move, and grade material on construction and industrial sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate heavy machinery and equipment, including excavators, bulldozers, and graders, to excavate, move, and grade material.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on roads and rights-of-way, including loading, hauling, and dumping on smooth to extremely rough surfaces.
  • Load gravel, dirt, and sand, and smooth and grade roads.
  • Trench and construct ditches for installation of culverts, water pipes, and sewer pipes, and remove silt and debris.
  • Check and maintain all fluid levels and lubrication on equipment.
  • Instruct and train employees in the safe operation of construction equipment and tools, and in job techniques and skills.
  • Inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify errors or other problems or defects.
  • Estimate sizes, distances, and quantities, and determine time, costs, resources, or materials needed to perform a work activity.
  • Inspect subordinate's work for compliance with contract plans and specifications, point out deficiencies, and explain and take corrective action as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, with previous experience in the field or a related area.
  • Strong working knowledge skills and abilities for the position.
  • Ability to understand, follow, and transmit written and oral instructions, and communicate effectively with management/supervision.
  • Proficient in the safe and efficient use of electrical, hand tools, power tools, and layout tools, as well as measurement tools.
  • Ability to work in a construction environment and be exposed to changing outdoor weather conditions.
  • Ability to work irregular hours, weekends, overtime, and holidays as required.
  • Ability to climb and maintain balance on formwork, steel formwork, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.
  • Ability to move and work in and around confined and cluttered places, and uneven surfaces.
  • Ability to complete tasks in a noisy and dusty environment.
  • Ability to move items weighing up to 50 pounds across the construction/industrial site.
  • Ability to pass pre-access drug and alcohol testing, and fit for duty medical.
