  • Job Type: Travel Nursing Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) will provide comprehensive care to women during labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period at Magnet Medical's state-of-the-art facility.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Pre-Labor and Admission Assessment:
    • Conduct thorough assessments of pregnant women to ensure their health and well-being are monitored throughout labor.
    • Evaluate uterine activity, fetal heart tones, and maternal vital signs to identify any potential complications.
    • Provide education on labor and delivery processes, pain management options, and what to expect during childbirth.
  • Labor Support and Monitoring:
    • Monitor labor progress through regular assessment of contraction patterns, cervical dilation, fetal heart rate, and maternal vital signs.
    • Administer medications as prescribed and monitor their effects on the mother and baby.
    • Provide continuous emotional support and pain management throughout the labor process.
    • Assist with amniotomy and other procedures as directed by the healthcare team.
  • Assisting with Delivery:
    • Assist obstetricians or midwives during vaginal deliveries, providing instrumentation assistance and suctioning as needed.
    • Participate in cesarean section procedures, ensuring the sterile field and assisting with the delivery process.
    • Perform neonatal resuscitation and initial assessment of the newborn's health after birth.
  • Postpartum Care:
    • Monitor the health and recovery of both the mother and newborn in the immediate postpartum period.
    • Assist with breastfeeding support, teaching proper latch techniques and addressing concerns related to infant care.
    • Provide education on postpartum recovery, self-care, and newborn care.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Accurately document all assessments, interventions, medications, and patient progress in the electronic health record.
    • Maintain timely records of labor and delivery processes, including patient and fetal monitoring results.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work closely with healthcare professionals to plan and implement individualized care for each patient.
    • Communicate clearly with patients and families about labor progress, potential complications, and available options.
  • Infection Control and Safety:
    • Follow infection control procedures to maintain a safe and sterile environment.
    • Ensure all equipment used during labor and delivery is properly sterilized and functioning.
  • Emergency and High-Risk Situations:
    • Recognize signs of complications, such as fetal distress, preeclampsia, and hemorrhage, and initiate appropriate interventions or escalate care as needed.
    • Respond to obstetric emergencies, utilizing protocols and teamwork.
  • Patient Education and Advocacy:
    • Provide education and support to patients and families regarding labor, delivery options, and postpartum recovery.
    • Advocate for patient preferences and informed decision-making.

Estimated Salary: $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on experience. Magnet Medical offers a competitive pay package based on 12-hour shifts and 36 hours of work per week, with tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
