Job Title: COPV Design Engineer

Virgin Galactic is seeking an experienced COPV Design Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and analyzing composite overwrapped pressure vessels (COPVs) for our rocket vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform structural design and analysis of COPVs within program requirements
  • Support liner manufacturing and filament winding activity
  • Travel as needed to assist in vendor selection and management
  • Define, plan, and execute qualification and acceptance testing
  • Support acceptance testing data reduction and post-fire/flight inspections
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 3-5+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint
Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Experience with COPV design or manufacturing
  • Experience with Abaqus and/or Ansys with filament winding module
  • Experience with CATIA V5 and/or Solidworks
  • Project/subcontract management experience
  • Knowledge of fluid systems sizing and analysis
Benefits:

Virgin Galactic offers a competitive salary range of $85,900.00–$131,000.00 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. In addition to a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, we also offer a bonus or long-term incentive program.
