The Internal Revenue Service is seeking a highly skilled Tax Examination Technician to join our team. As a Tax Examination Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and compliance of tax returns and other financial documents.
Key Responsibilities- Receive and review incoming mail and correspondence for the manager, referring only those items that require personal attention.
- Determine what correspondence should be controlled with deadlines and serve as a liaison between the manager and key subordinate staff members and other officials.
- Act as office manager for the office, recommending changes in administrative policies and devising and installing office procedures and practices.
- Analyze incoming directives, manual issuances, policy changes, regulatory and procedural changes, etc., for significant potential effect on manager's objectives and for general interests of the manager.
- Edit and offer a critique on organizational internal management documents, pointing out aspects such as lack of clarity or understandability and questions on substantive content.
To be eligible for this position, you must meet the following requirements:
- One year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-05) in the Federal government.
- Experience must be related to the work of this position and have provided you with the competencies required for successful job performance.
- Examples of qualifying experience include:
- Full-time secretary, senior clerk, management assistant, personnel assistant, legal assistant position, and other similar positions where you independently provided clerical support, typing, maintaining files, records, screening material, establishing procedures, following up action items, editing correspondence, requisitioning supplies, equipment, and services for office chief and staff.
- Full-time secretary, management assistant, personnel assistant, legal assistant position, and other similar positions where you use your technical and administrative knowledge to schedule supervisor's activities, compose correspondence, resolve problems, locate information, prepare travel arrangements, including travel vouchers, and organize the workflow of the office.
This position requires a high level of attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, and will be able to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
