Job Title: Medical Laboratory Technician

Job Summary:

Geisinger Health System is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team. As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality laboratory services to our patients. You will be responsible for performing various analyses from multiple specimen sources, maintaining an expected level of productivity, and managing multiple work processes efficiently.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform and report various analyses from multiple specimen sources.
  • Meet the qualifications to provide care for patients in the specific age range on their assigned clinical area.
  • Maintain an expected level of productivity.
  • Manage multiple work processes efficiently.
  • Complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Handle specimens properly.
  • Confirm identification and specimen suitability.
  • Use appropriate accessioning procedures.
  • Recognize discrepancies on patient orders.
  • Resolve and report problems and solutions as appropriate.
  • Perform and record instrument maintenance, troubleshooting, and quality control.
  • Replenish reagents and supplies according to established protocols.
  • Follow established reporting procedures, computerized, verbal, and manual as appropriate.
  • Navigate and access multiple computer applications as needed for job functionality.
  • Assist in the training and orientation of new employees.
  • Participate in educational activities to maintain current knowledge in the field.

Requirements:

  • Associate degree in a laboratory science with certification (or eligible new graduate) from an accredited institution as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT).
  • Military experience will be considered and is welcomed.
