Dorman Preschool Center is a 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicated to providing quality childcare for children and families of all needs in Shelby County. Our mission is to create a learning environment that fosters growth and development in young children.

Job Summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our team as an assistant toddler teacher for our 2-year-olds classroom. This is a full-time position (40 hours a week, 8 hours a day) Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the lead teacher with classroom management, lesson plans, and classroom environment
  • Assist in diaper changes and potty training
  • Be an observant and engaged educator
  • Daily cleaning of classroom and general housekeeping
  • Assisting in other classrooms as needed
  • Working in a community amongst all classes
  • Attend occasional mandatory trainings
  • Supervise the children you are with
  • Assist during meal times
  • Helping children problem solve and conflict resolution
  • Teaching children how to effectively express emotion in a positive way
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to pass a background check
  • Reliable transportation
  • Open to learning about emergent curriculum
  • Experience working with young children (preferred)
  • Ability to work well with others
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Able to attend required trainings
  • Great communication skills
  • Compliance with licensing requirements for TB testing
  • Willing to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with the center's philosophy and mission
  • Willing to work with children of all needs
  • Eager to be a lifelong learner and a team player
  • Must be able to spend time outdoors
