Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Cake Designer to join our team at Big Y. As a Cake Designer, you will be responsible for creating visually appealing cakes and desserts that exceed our customers' expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Service: Provide World Class customer service and a pleasant shopping experience to our customers.
  • Sales and Marketing: Build relationships with customers and educate them on our products to create sales.
  • Order Taking and Planning: Take accurate orders and plan cake orders to meet customer demands.
  • Cake Decoration: Decorate cakes and desserts in accordance with Big Y's policies and procedures.
  • Store Maintenance: Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the store, including the cake display cases and inventory.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with management to ensure operational and sales goals are met.
  • Training and Development: Provide training to colleagues as needed through product knowledge and expertise.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain inventory levels and order products as assigned.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Operate, clean, and maintain equipment and machinery.
  • Workflow Oversight: Periodically oversee and direct workflow as assigned.
  • Cash Handling: Operate a cash register where applicable.
Requirements
  • Experience: Previous experience in perishable foods handling and/or preparation is preferred.
  • Cake Decorating Experience: Previous cake decorating experience is preferred.

  • Communication Skills: Ability to demonstrate a passion for food through interactive sales techniques.
  • Appearance and Attitude: Must project a clean and professional appearance and be a team player with a positive attitude and businesslike conduct.
  • Company Policies: Ability to operate within Big Y's policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Schedule Flexibility: Ability to work a flexible schedule in accordance with the needs of the store.
  • Attention to Detail: Attention to detail, accuracy, ability to prioritize and follow-through.
  • Organizational Skills: Possess excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Computer Skills: Ability to learn and utilize computer applications.
  • Age Requirement: Must be 18 years of age.
