Job Title: Registered Nurse Med Surg

Aurora Health Care in Sheboygan, WI is seeking a Registered Nurse for our Medical Surgical Unit to start on our night shift or PM team. Our team is committed to providing you with the resources to learn and grow, so you can be prepared for future opportunities in critical care nursing.

About the Role:

As a Registered Nurse on our Medical Surgical Unit, you will be responsible for providing and coordinating comprehensive patient care through the nursing process. You will use evidence-based practice, clinical decision making, compassion, and skilled communication to create a safe and therapeutic patient environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess patient needs, plan and implement individualized interventions, and evaluate the effectiveness of the plan of care.
  • Anticipate and recognize significant changes in patient condition, status, and need for care, and take appropriate actions when changes occur.
  • Implement strategies to reduce patient risk and increase patient safety, and assess patient and family readiness to learn and individualize the approach as necessary.
  • Actively coordinate the discharge plan utilizing an interdisciplinary approach, and apply evidence-based practice to deliver patient care.
  • Provide ongoing evaluation of patient, team, and unit outcomes, and take appropriate action when changes are needed.
Requirements:
  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which you practice, and Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Completion of an accredited or approved program in Nursing.
  • Typically requires 1 year of experience in clinical nursing.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated ability to provide holistic patient care and recognize situational changes that require unplanned or unanticipated interventions.
  • Proficient computer skills, use of electronic mail and electronic medical records systems.
  • Excellent communication, listening, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively make critical, independent decisions.
Working Conditions:

This role requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently throughout the workday. You must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist, and carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance. You may be exposed to chemical and hazardous waste, as well as blood and body fluids, and must wear protective clothing and equipment as necessary.
