Job Summary

Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP is seeking a highly skilled Discovery Attorney to join our team. As a key member of our litigation support group, you will play a critical role in managing document review, analysis, and production for our Firm's litigation, antitrust, enforcement, securities, and bankruptcy practice areas.

Responsibilities
  • Manage all stages of a discovery project, including document preservation, collection, data privacy issues, document review, preparation for depositions or interviews, document productions, privilege logs, and post-production document use.
  • Provide guidance and advice on discovery processes and assist in responding to discovery requests and drafting ESI protocols, protective orders, and review protocols.
  • Conduct research into the industry subject of the document request and assist in developing plans and procedures for document collection, review, and production.
  • Work with and direct paralegals, project attorneys, and contract attorneys, as well as manage discovery vendors and work with clients' discovery attorneys and IT personnel.
  • Stay informed about discovery technology, including review platforms and AI/TAR tools, and work effectively with the firm's global discovery groups.
Requirements
  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and a member of the District of Columbia Bar.
  • Prior experience in a litigation practice, especially complex, multi-party litigation.
  • Flexibility to work extensive overtime, including weekends and holidays, to meet the needs of assigned cases.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, organizational skills, project management, and technical skills, as well as diplomacy and client services.
  • Ability to manage teams and work under pressure, with a demonstrated ability to collect data, establish facts, draw defensible conclusions, define problems, propose, and effectuate solutions.
