The State of New Mexico is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual to fill the position of Healthcare Surveyor - Operational/Long Term Care. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring that long-term care healthcare facilities and Intermediate Care Facilities for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF/IIDs) meet state and federal regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct surveys and investigations of long-term care healthcare facilities to determine their level of compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Interview residents/clients and staff of healthcare facilities to gather information and assess their experiences.
- Evaluate the facility environment to ensure it meets safety and infection control standards.
- Review records and documents to verify compliance with regulations.
- Ensure resident/client rights are protected and respected.
- Verify that quality of care and quality of life meet regulation standards.
- Associate's Degree in Nursing, Architecture, Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Rehabilitation, and/or Criminal Justice from an accredited college or university.
- Two (2) years of experience in community-based healthcare services and case management.
- Ability to think critically and make sound judgments.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Flexibility and ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment with deadlines.
This position requires extensive in-state travel, with frequent overnight stays averaging one week at a time. Occasional out-of-state travel is also required. The work environment is primarily office-based, with regular visits to long-term care healthcare facilities and ICF/IIDs.
