**Job Summary**
Under the direction of the Welding Group Leader or Supervisor, the Welder Fabricator works from customer drawings and a traveler to fabricate and weld components, producing high-quality products at the lowest cost while meeting departmental performance standards, customer specifications, and delivery requirements. This role requires a Class A Welder who can perform all aspects of welding, consistently meeting or exceeding cycle times. The ideal candidate can fabricate from prints without the aid of fixtures, work with engineering to develop fixtures, and interpret blueprints and weld symbols at an advanced level.
**Key Responsibilities**
• Fabricate and weld components according to customer drawings and a traveler
• Meet departmental performance standards, customer specifications, and delivery requirements
• Work from prints without the aid of fixtures
• Develop fixtures with engineering
• Interpret blueprints and weld symbols at an advanced level
• Meet minimum 20/20 vision standards (with corrective lenses if needed)
• Score a minimum score on the in-house welding test
• Knowledge of the metric system is preferred
• Accurately measure and lay out locations for welded components
• Adjust weld as needed to accommodate varying thicknesses of steel
• Operate grinder, drill, band saw, torch
• Complete and maintain all required paperwork, records, documentation, etc.
• Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations
• Maintain departmental housekeeping standards
**Requirements**
• Job knowledge through suitable education or prior work experience
• Ability to regularly lift and/or move 25-50 pounds
• Must supply his/her own welding helmet and safety shoes
• Requires the use of safety glasses and shoes, welding helmet, grinding shield, tight-fitting clothing without tears, hearing protection, and gloves
