Position Overview
The role involves conducting comprehensive underwriting evaluations and risk assessments for large group contracts ranging from 5,000 to 10,000 members, with a focus on advanced methodologies.
- The assigned portfolio will encompass various product types, funding strategies, and rating systems.
- Responsible for preparing and presenting intricate, high-stakes new business proposals and renewals.
- Collaborate with sales teams and account managers on complex cases.
- Effectively communicate findings to employers, brokers, and consultants.
- Conduct thorough reviews of work to ensure accuracy, identify potential risks, and provide recommendations for risk management while fostering membership growth and retention.
- Leverage advanced underwriting tools and resources to generate precise quotes and renewals.
- Apply underwriting standards, negotiate financial terms, and authorize exceptions within the designated authority limits.
- Escalate any exceptions that exceed authority limits to management.
- Generate timely and accurate documentation and deliverables tailored to client needs.
- Ensure pricing aligns with the overall quoting and renewal strategy.
- Review colleagues' work for accuracy and compliance.
- Contribute to departmental projects and initiatives, identifying opportunities for process enhancements through automation or procedural improvements.
Required Qualifications
Minimum of 3 years of experience in healthcare underwriting, including dental, vision, life, voluntary, and medical pricing methodologies and funding strategies.
Proven ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities in a dynamic environment.
- Strong analytical and independent thinking skills.
- Demonstrated success in teamwork and collaboration to achieve goals.
- Proficient in clear and effective written and verbal communication.
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
At least 2 years of experience in voluntary underwriting and pricing methodologies.
Previous experience in engaging with the Broker Market, providing clear communication tailored to the voluntary product sector.
Education
A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent professional experience is required.
Compensation Overview
The expected pay range for this position is between $60,000 and $139,200 annually. This range reflects the base salary for all roles within the job grade associated with this position. Actual salary offers will be influenced by various factors, including experience, education, geographic location, and other relevant considerations. This role is also eligible for a bonus, commission, or short-term incentive program in addition to the base salary.
