Key Responsibilities


Lead and manage field survey teams involved in conducting geodetic and plane surveys for various projects, including construction, topographic assessments, right-of-way determinations, and control surveys.


Oversee all survey and layout operations as instructed.


Conduct quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) evaluations for 3D modeling and grading tasks.


Engage in pre-survey planning discussions with the project team.


Delegate tasks and monitor progress while providing feedback for the performance evaluation of field survey personnel.


Train and mentor survey crew members on surveying techniques, equipment usage, and safety protocols.


Collect field survey data utilizing both traditional methods and Global Positioning System (GPS) technology: Set up, calibrate, and operate surveying instruments, including electronic total stations, data collectors, and GPS devices, to accurately measure distances, elevations, and angles.


Document field observations and create detailed drawings.


Execute field surveys for various structures such as buildings, roadways, bridges, and flood control systems, which includes the installation of construction stakes, establishing existing intersection ties, and determining vertical and horizontal control points, property boundaries, and right-of-way markers.


Perform advanced surveying calculations using engineering calculators and laptops.


Generate finished grade sheets, topographic maps, survey records, corner records, and other related documentation.


Investigate existing records, including maps, plans, deeds, easements, and right-of-way documents; maintain comprehensive field data records, survey project files, and indexing systems.

Qualifications

  • Fundamental understanding of field instruments, GPS technology, and robotic total stations.
  • Strong collaborative skills to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Proficient mathematical abilities, including algebra and trigonometry.
  • Technical school diploma or certificate in a relevant field is advantageous.
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License is mandatory.
