Job Title: Human Resources Coordinator

Join Carolina Creek Christian Camps as a Human Resources Coordinator and play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our HR functions. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing all year-round staff recruiting and retention efforts, including the hiring of over 150 seasonal summer staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state laws relating to human resources and state licensure.
  • Coordinate and oversee all year-round staff recruiting and retention efforts.
  • Assist with all recruiting efforts for full-time and seasonal employees.
  • Ensure proper onboarding procedures are followed and all necessary documentation has been collected from new employees.
  • Perform time-of-hire and annual background checks for all employees, as well as reference checks for all new hires.
  • Work collaboratively with the Program Team and Camp Directors to plan and execute summer staff training.
  • Assist in creating job descriptions and relevant departmental SOPs.
  • Process FMLA, 1095s, COBRA, and track all employee data in payroll software.
  • Assist with worker's compensation.
  • Assist accounting by gathering relevant data and reviewing processed payroll.
  • Process employee benefits such as the retirement program, health benefits, etc.
  • Maintain documentation for employees eligible for and participating in the Ministerial Housing Allowance program.
  • Assist with the employee performance appraisal process.
  • Assist with conflict resolution and/or disciplinary measures as requested.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Human Resources, Business or Organizational Management, or a related field.
  • Previous 3-5 years of human resources experience required.
  • Previous 3-5 years of Christian camping or similar industry experience preferred.
  • Must be organized and detail-oriented.
  • Must be able to provide reasonable counseling/coaching from a Biblical perspective.
  • Must be able to hold confidential information securely, and be discreet when dealing with sensitive situations.
  • Must be willing to further knowledge and training in HR.
  • Must be proficient with common business software tools including, but not limited to, Google Docs, sheets and file sharing, Excel, and Microsoft Office products.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal relations skills.
  • Must possess emotional and spiritual maturity.
  • Must possess a developed sense of empathy.
  • Must be flexible with an ability to adjust and problem-solve in challenging situations.
  • Must be able to engage in active listening.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and written.
  • Must be able to encourage employees by modeling and encouraging positivity, respect, and healthy relationships.
  • Must have a heart to serve wherever and whenever needed.
Physical Demands:

The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in hot and humid conditions. Requires sitting, standing, squatting, stooping, twisting, and ability to lift/carry anywhere from 15 to over 30 lbs. Requires operating motor vehicles in the course of their duties. Requires the ability to hear and speak using the telephone and internet video-conferencing tools.

Additional Requirements:
  • Adherence to company dress code and professional standards for personal grooming and appearance.
  • Satisfactory completion of a background investigation, as well as the ability to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Might require some travel, including overnight travel for recruiting purposes.
  • Must be willing to work extended hours when necessary.
  • This is not a remote position. While there may occasionally be the opportunity for remote work, this position requires physical presence at Carolina Creek for most responsibilities.
