The Role

As a Culinary Specialist, you will play a crucial role in upholding the culinary and operational standards at Goosefeather. A deep understanding of the menu and food preparation techniques is essential, as is the ability to cook and present dishes efficiently. You will also be responsible for adhering to sanitation regulations and promoting these standards throughout the kitchen.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare all menu items according to established recipes and yield guides, ensuring efficiency and quality.
  • Collaborate with Front of House staff to synchronize the timing of courses and address guest feedback.
  • Foster a supportive team environment by assisting colleagues whenever possible.
  • Communicate essential guest information to the team to ensure a seamless dining experience (allergy alerts, special requests, etc.).
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in accordance with Department of Health standards.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of equipment maintenance and safe usage, ensuring tools are used correctly.
  • Conduct inspections of the line and workstations to ensure cleanliness and organization.
  • Verify the condition and cleanliness of all kitchen tools, equipment, and supplies, ensuring compliance with standards.
  • Follow proper storage procedures as mandated by health regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop, and frequently lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Proficient in written and spoken English.
  • Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team, demonstrating ownership and urgency in tasks.
  • Exhibit excellence in hospitality for both internal and external guests, with a solid understanding of industry best practices.
  • Strong time management, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with kitchen ticket systems and order management.
  • Passionate about delivering exceptional hospitality, food, and beverage experiences.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience as a Culinary Specialist in a high-volume kitchen.
  • Culinary Arts Degree is preferred.
  • New York City Food Protection Certificate (Food Handler's) is required.
