Key Responsibilities- Pharmacy Services: Provide pharmacy services with compassion, excellence, and efficiency, ensuring safe and effective medication use.
- Medication Management: Prepare and dispense drug orders, interpret and transcribe verbal and written orders, and maintain accurate patient medication records.
- Compounding and Dispensing: Compound and dispense pharmaceuticals, including non-sterile and sterile products, chemotherapy, and parenteral nutrition products.
- Controlled Substances: Issue controlled substances to patient care areas and maintain records as required by law and institutional policies.
- Quality Improvement: Participate in quality improvement and medication use review activities, collecting data, conducting monitors and inspections, and maintaining logs and records.
- Clinical Consultation: Provide clinical consultation and clarification to practitioners as appropriate, and provide accurate, adequate, and timely drug information to the hospital's professional staff.
- Education and Training: Provide drug education to patients and their families per institutional protocol, and participate in antibiotic stewardship, opioid stewardship, and shortage management activities as assigned.
- Education and Experience: Doctor of Pharmacy or BS Pharmacy degree required, with hospital experience preferred.
- Licenses and Certifications: Pharmacy registration in the State of practice, and must have pharmacy State licensure within 60 days of start date. BLS or ACLS and PALS (pediatric practice) within 180 days of start date.
This position requires working in a fast-paced healthcare environment, with potential exposure to hazardous and toxic substances, and risk of musculoskeletal injuries if proper lifting and carrying techniques are not used.
