The Shawnee Mission School District is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Paraprofessional to join our Special Education team. As a Paraprofessional, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational and non-educational activities of students with special needs.

• Assist the teacher with instructional activities, including direct small group instruction and data collection.
• Support the teacher in maintaining a well-organized and safe classroom environment.
• Assist with physical needs of students, including lifting and moving equipment as needed.
• Record information for reports and complete worksheets as directed by the teacher.
• Supervise students in the absence of the teacher and maintain confidentiality of student information.

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and support staff.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lift and move equipment as needed.
• On-the-job training sessions required by the State Department of Education for continued employment.

• Bilingual communication skills.
• Experience working with students with special needs.

The Paraprofessional will work in a school setting, with frequent interaction with students, teachers, and support staff. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain confidentiality of student information is essential.
