The Shipping and Receiving Specialist plays a crucial role in managing and supervising the logistics operations within Aptyx. This position is focused on ensuring that all shipments, both incoming and outgoing, are handled with precision and efficiency, while also maintaining accurate inventory records and delivering outstanding service to both internal teams and external partners.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Shipping Responsibilities:
- Prepare and package outgoing shipments in accordance with organizational and client specifications.
- Create and affix shipping labels and necessary documentation.
- Coordinate with transport providers to arrange pickups and deliveries.
- Ensure prompt dispatch of products and compliance with delivery timelines.
- Receiving Responsibilities:
- Examine incoming shipments for correctness, damage, and quality assurance.
- Unload and unpack received items, verifying them against purchase orders and packing lists.
- Document and report any discrepancies, damaged goods, or missing items.
- Update inventory logs and enter data into the inventory management system.
- Inventory Oversight:
- Assist in sustaining accurate inventory levels and effective storage practices.
- Conduct regular inventory audits and resolve any discrepancies.
- Organize and manage storage spaces to ensure easy access and safety.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain comprehensive records of shipments, receipts, and inventory status.
- Prepare and submit reports regarding shipping and receiving activities.
- Ensure adherence to company policies and relevant regulatory standards.
- Client Support:
- Address and resolve inquiries and issues related to shipping and receiving in a timely manner.
- Communicate effectively with suppliers, transporters, and internal departments.
- Deliver exceptional customer service to ensure stakeholder satisfaction.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to safety protocols and best practices when handling and storing products.
- Comply with company policies, industry standards, and legal regulations.
- Maintain a tidy and organized workspace to promote a safe working environment.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in logistics or supply chain management is advantageous.
- Prior experience in shipping and receiving or a related field is preferred.
- Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational abilities.
- Capability to lift and move heavy items as required.
- Outstanding communication and problem-solving skills.
- Able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
Working Environment:
- This role may require prolonged periods of standing, lifting heavy packages, and working in a warehouse or shipping setting.
- Occasional overtime or weekend work may be necessary based on operational needs.
