Senior Geriatric Medicine Faculty

Hackensack Meridian Health is actively seeking a qualified faculty physician to take on the role of Associate Director for the Geriatric Consult Service within the Department of Medicine/Geriatrics at Jersey Shore University Medical Center. This position entails providing leadership in both administrative and clinical initiatives aimed at enhancing Geriatric Programs across various departments, including but not limited to Emergency Medicine and Surgery.
The primary objective of this role is to collaborate closely with the Chief of Geriatrics to develop a comprehensive inpatient and outpatient geriatric consultation service, along with a co-management program tailored for high-risk medical and surgical patients. This initiative will be supported by a dedicated team, including a Social Worker, Geriatric Advanced Practice Provider, and Geriatric Surgical Coordinator.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the design and implementation of a preoperative assessment program specifically for high-risk elective surgical patients.
- Engage in interdisciplinary conferences focused on elective high-risk patients.
- Assist in the development of a thorough inpatient assessment program for high-risk medical and surgical patients.
- Participate in activities related to both Undergraduate and Graduate Medical Education, promoting and supporting continuing education initiatives for physicians, Advanced Practice Providers, and Medicine Residents.
- Collaborate with the Chief of Geriatrics to evaluate the feasibility of establishing a Geriatric Fellowship Program.
Qualifications:
- Board Certification in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine with a Certificate of Added Qualification in Geriatric Medicine.
- Exceptional clinical and educational abilities.
- Experience in cognitive evaluations.
- Capability to secure professional licensure, DEA, and CDS licenses in New Jersey.
- Encouragement for both seasoned physicians and recent graduates to consider this opportunity.
