Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Youth Program Counselor to join our team at the Tri-City / St. Charles Corps. As a key member of our youth services team, you will play a vital role in providing supervision and leadership to our after-school program and summer day camp participants.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the planning and implementation of after-school program and summer day camp activities, including field trips and character-building initiatives.
  • Provide safe transportation and supervision of program participants from school and/or during all field trips using Salvation Army vehicles.
  • Lead assigned activities related to after-school program and summer day camp, promoting spiritual development and character growth among participants.
  • Maintain accurate check-in and sign-out logs for after-school program and summer day camp using approved policies.
  • Collaborate with parents, staff, youth leaders, and Corps Officers to ensure a cohesive and effective youth services program.
  • Represent The Salvation Army in the community through various outreach events and activities.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Experience in youth work preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and MVR clearance required.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Suite.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to use initiative and be a self-starter.
  • An attention to detail.
  • Uses diplomacy and good judgment.
  • A positive attitude and the ability to be flexible considering changing job situations/priorities.
  • A commitment to uphold and promote the mission of The Salvation Army.

Working Conditions:

This position requires moderate physical work and the ability to lift 25 pounds. The work environment includes an office and gym environment with a low to high noise level. The employee must be able to walk stairs and operate a vehicle, and may need to drive in inclement weather and spend a lot of time on their feet.
