Job Title: Audiologist

Baystate Health, a leading healthcare organization in western Massachusetts, is seeking a part-time Audiologist to join our team. As a key member of our audiology department, you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive evaluative, rehabilitative, preventative, and referral services for patients concerned about hearing loss.

Job Summary:

Provides age-appropriate care to patients, demonstrating knowledge of developmental stages and applying developmental theories and concepts when planning and implementing care. Evaluates the appropriateness of diagnostic and therapeutic materials and equipment, contributing to purchasing decisions and ensuring the condition of materials, equipment, and tests used.

Responsibilities:
  • Identifies, evaluates, treats, and follows up with clients on an inpatient, outpatient, homecare, and contract basis as assigned.
  • Provides counseling to clients, families, and others in relation to understanding and assisting in the identification and treatment of hearing impairment.
  • Encourages and maintains cooperation with other professionals, agencies, and services.
  • Completes necessary documentation to comply with professional standards and department procedures.
  • Participates actively in the departmental team and other teams involved with clients, sharing continuing education experiences.
  • Supervises volunteers, students, and interns as directed, assisting with on-the-job orientation and training of new staff.
  • Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection control policies and protocols.
  • Completes department operational procedures, including scheduling, billing, equipment usage, time off requests, and caseload coverage assignments.
  • Demonstrates relevant knowledge and application of clinical skills in evaluation, treatment, and counseling.
  • Meets productivity expectations as determined by the department standards.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Conveys information obtained from continuing education programs to team members by developing and conducting in-service training programs.
  • Adheres to the ASHA Code of ethics and follows hospital and departmental policies and professional standards.
  • Competence in at least one higher-level audiology skill, such as ABR under natural sleep or anesthesia, adult cochlear implant evaluation and programming, or advanced pediatric skills.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Masters of Science - Minimal education is a Master's degree
  • Certificate of Audiology
  • Basic Life Support
  • Preferred Education: Doctorate Audiology
  • Minimally Required Experience: 3-5 years of experience as an audiologist
  • Preferred Experience: Mid-level audiology skills, health promotion and maintenance, creating a safe effective environment, motivating others, legal compliance, quality focus, bedside manner, clinical skills, persistence, energy level.
