Salary Information:

We are offering a competitive salary of $55.00 - $57.00 per hour, with the possibility of overtime as needed.

 

Job Summary

The Staff Pharmacist plays a vital role in ensuring the safe and effective use of medications in our healthcare setting. This position involves dispensing prescription medications, providing patient education, and collaborating with healthcare professionals to optimize patient care.

 

Essential Functions
  • Prescription Verification: The Staff Pharmacist will perform initial review and clinical verification of medications/prescriptions, checking for drug interactions, therapy duplication, and clinical issues based on patient's age, medical conditions, and status.
  • Final Verification: Conduct final verification on filled medications to ensure correct product usage, absence of damage, intact blister packs, and no missing pills, adhering to quality assurance standards.
  • Data Entry: Ensure accurate entry of prescriptions and verify correct typing of prescriptions, accurately performing data entry for various types of prescriptions.
  • Inventory Management: Manage controlled medication inventory, including check-in, documentation, online inventory management, and ensuring appropriate storage.
  • Pyxis System Utilization: Utilize the Pyxis system and MedBank for prescription verification and controlled medication dispensing (training provided).
  • Emergency Kit Checks: Conduct daily checks on emergency kits, ensuring they are properly stocked, and medications are within expiration dates.
  • Patient Communication: Review prescriptions, contacting facilities or prescribers as necessary to address any issues.
  • Workflow Management: Monitor and manage workflow to ensure prescriptions are filled accurately and on time, preparing compounded medications as needed.
  • Prior Authorization Review: Evaluate prior authorizations and determine if emergency supply should be provided during the review process.
  • Telephone Orders: Handle telephone orders from prescribers and delegate prescriptions as required.
  • Technician Guidance: Address inquiries from technicians and provide guidance on pharmacy procedures.
  • Communication: Manage electronic communications with staff and facilities, ensuring timely responses.
  • Work Environment: Maintain a clean and organized workstation.

 

Minimum Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Doctorate of Pharmacy degree
  • An Active State Pharmacist license
  • A State license to handle medication
  • 1-3 years of pharmaceutical experience or an equivalent mix of education and experience
  • Intermediate proficiency with Pharmacy and medication distribution software (Pyxis Medbank, Frameworks)

 

Benefits and Schedule

This full-time position offers a variety of benefits and a schedule that includes Monday - Friday 7am-3pm, Weekends : 9am - 7pm, with rotating weekends and holidays as needed.
