Job Title: MDS Coordinator

We seek an experienced professional to join our team as an MDS Coordinator. The ideal candidate will possess excellent clinical skills, strong leadership abilities, and exceptional communication skills.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain current knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid guidelines and regulations.
  • Conduct pre-admission assessments for residents seeking admission to our nursing center.
  • Evaluate residents for meeting criteria for Medicare payment, including clinical eligibility and availability of Medicare days.
  • Supervise interdisciplinary teams in completing comprehensive resident assessments, including Minimum Data Set (MDS), Care Area Assessments (CAA), and CAA Guidelines.
  • Schedule and certify on-time completion of RAI process for all Medicare and non-Medicare assessments, according to state and federal guidelines.
  • Monitor resident health status to identify significant changes and complete re-assessment process.
  • Analyze MDS assessments prior to final submission to Center for Medicare/Medicaid Services (CMS) using standard organizational software.
  • Transmit RAI data to CMS on a scheduled basis.
  • Upload and submit MDS data to QAPI software on a routine and consistent basis.
  • Communicate with billing personnel to ensure Medicare billing accuracy and timeliness.
  • Supervise interdisciplinary teams in developing plans of care for each resident based on assessments.
  • Provide education for interdisciplinary teams, licensed nurses, and unlicensed staff to document services provided according to plan of care.
  • Conduct regular audits of services provided by internal and external providers for accuracy and timeliness of documentation to validate billing.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
  • Registered Nursing license in good standing.
  • Experience with CMS Resident Assessment Instrument process.
  • Knowledge of OBRA/Federal/State regulations.
  • Three years of MDS experience in Long-Term Care setting preferred.
