The Health, Fitness & Recreation Center at Moraine Valley Community College is a premier facility located in Palos Hills, Illinois, currently under the expert management of CENTERS. This expansive 113,000 square foot center, which supports various athletic programs and recreational activities, features a state-of-the-art fitness area, multiple exercise studios, an indoor running track, and a comprehensive aquatic center.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively prevent and respond to emergency situations.
  • Identify and report any equipment malfunctions or facility irregularities.
  • Participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings and in-service training sessions.
  • Enforce all facility rules and regulations effectively.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to all patrons.
  • Perform lifeguarding duties in accordance with facility standards and state regulations.
  • Supervise the safe use of swimming pools and associated amenities.
  • Maintain current certifications in lifeguard training, First Aid for the professional rescuer, and CPR for the professional rescuer.
  • Conduct pool maintenance tasks as assigned.
  • Fulfill additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Possession of a current American Red Cross, Ellis, YMCA, or equivalent Lifeguard Training certification.
  • Current certifications in First Aid, AED, and CPR-PR.
  • Previous experience as a lifeguard is preferred.

Competencies:

Technical Competencies:

  • Basic computer skills.

Professional Competencies:

  • Ability to perform all required lifeguard skills as outlined by the American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Program.
  • Successful completion of skills assessments in swimming, rescue techniques, and other relevant areas.
  • Effectively manage customer-related issues during shifts.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

Work Environment:

  • Predominantly poolside.
  • Moderate to loud noise levels.

Physical Demands:

  • Requires physical conditioning and stamina.
