Interventional Radiology Technologist Role in Florida

We are seeking a skilled Interventional Radiology Technologist to join our team at Magnet Medical in Stuart, Florida. This is a travel job opportunity that requires the technologist to work 10-hour shifts, with a guaranteed minimum of 40 hours per week. The pay package includes a tax-free stipend amount, which will be determined upon confirmation.
Job DescriptionAn Interventional Radiology (IR) Technologist specializes in assisting physicians with minimally invasive procedures that utilize imaging techniques such as fluoroscopy, CT scans, and ultrasound. IR Technologists work closely with interventional radiologists and other medical professionals to perform procedures that can treat diseases, blockages, and injuries without the need for traditional surgery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparing patients for procedures by ensuring all necessary imaging equipment, sterile instruments, and supplies are available and functioning.
- Reviewing patient information, medical history, and previous imaging studies to ensure the correct procedure and appropriate imaging protocols.
- Operating imaging equipment to guide physicians during procedures, ensuring accurate imaging to target specific areas of the body.
- Monitoring patients' vital signs, including heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygen levels, during the procedure and reporting any changes to the medical team.
- Taking precautions to minimize radiation exposure to both the patient and the healthcare team by following radiation safety protocols, using shielding, and optimizing imaging settings.
Radiation Safety Protocols
Our Interventional Radiology Technologists follow strict radiation safety protocols to ensure minimal radiation exposure to both patients and healthcare staff. This includes wearing protective equipment, such as lead aprons, and adhering to hospital accreditation guidelines.
Collaboration with the Medical Team
As an Interventional Radiology Technologist, you will work closely with interventional radiologists, nurses, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the success of each procedure and high-quality patient care. You will provide feedback and support to the medical team during procedures, particularly in regard to imaging quality and patient positioning.
Professional Development and Training
Magnet Medical invests in the ongoing training and development of its staff. As an Interventional Radiology Technologist, you will participate in continuing education and training to remain current with the latest technologies, techniques, and best practices in interventional radiology. You will also have opportunities to mentor and assist in training new IR technologists or students in proper procedures, equipment handling, and safety protocols.
