Emergency Department Lead Technologist

**About the Role**
As an Emergency Department Lead Technologist - Advanced Life Support Specialist, you will be responsible for the following duties:
* Providing advanced life support to patients, including basic and advanced life support, and accurately documenting patient care activities.
* Collaborating with healthcare personnel to promote a positive work environment and ensure seamless patient care.
* Promoting the mission, vision, and values of Intermountain Health, and adhering to service behavior standards.
* Performing other duties as assigned, including float assignments to other departments based on business need.
* Collaborating with the RN Leader to coordinate technical patient care activities and maintain quality of care in accordance with unit policies and procedures.
* May be required to be placed on-call during a regularly scheduled shift.
* Obtaining patients vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, and temperature, and understanding normal ranges and changes.
* Informing RNs or Physicians of changes in vital signs.
* Collecting blood, urine, saliva, and stool samples for laboratory analysis.
* Inserting Foley catheters, performing straight catheters, and providing wound care.
* Fitting patients for casts and/or hard splints, crutches, and other devices.
* Performing 12-lead EKGs.
* Providing instruments to doctors and nurses as they perform procedures on patients.
* Assisting with the safe movement of patients, applying principles of safe patient handling.
* Assisting with admitting patients into the ER, scheduling patient transfers, and reinforcing patient education/discharge instructions as given by the RN.
* Applying, checking, and documenting restraints as directed by the RN or Physician.
* Performing the duties of unit secretary, maintaining patient charts, responding to phone calls, maintaining daily assignment boards, providing equipment care/cleaning, performing errands associated with patient care, and providing accurate information about the patient with interdisciplinary teams.
* Promoting the mission, vision, and values of Intermountain Health, and adhering to service behavior standards.
* Assisting and supporting staff in problem-solving and responding to situations related to patient care, resource management, physician concerns, risk management, associate safety, and hospital safety.
* Overseeing training and orientation of new Emergency Room Technicians.
* Collaborating with SSC and adjusting assignments for department needs during the shift.
* Communicating with SSC and other leadership members about census, staffing, potential problems, and observations on department flow.
* Supporting SSC and the department management team in managing department productivity, coordinating unit activities, and facilitating change processes.
* Advocating for staff, patients, and department concerns.
* Collaborating with staff to ensure department cleanliness, stocking, and regulatory checks are performed.
* Participating in team meetings and hospital committees as an EDT/BHT representative.
* Working with ED leadership to establish agenda items in preparation for leading the ED Tech Quarterly Meetings.
* Assisting with evaluations and coaching associates.
**Requirements**
* High School Diploma or equivalent.
* Completion of Basic EMT training program or Paramedic Training is required in the state of practice.
* Current Basic EMT or Paramedic license in the state of practice is required.
* Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLSHCP) certification upon hire or obtained within 60 days of hire with prior approval.
* Current IV Certification in the state of practice is required.
* Minimum 1 year of experience as an EMT and 1 year of working in a hospital setting.
* Ultrasound Guided IV Certification is preferred.
* 3+ years of experience as an EMT in a hospital setting is preferred.
