Position Summary:

Under the guidance of the Afterschool Director, the Afterschool Transportation Specialist is responsible for providing safe and reliable transportation for participants to and from program locations. This role is crucial in fostering a welcoming and respectful environment for all individuals.

Key Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide compassionate and effective leadership for youth.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols relevant to transportation.
  • Understanding of the YMCA's mission and values, with the ability to exemplify and impart these principles.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check and drug screening.
  • Valid driving record and ability to pass a driving assessment.
  • Completion of the YMCA defensive driving course.
  • Participation in staff training sessions.
  • Certification in CPR within 30 days of employment, maintained throughout tenure.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide personal transportation to the assigned work location.
  • Availability to work weekdays between 2:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
  • Familiarity with regulations governing commercial passenger vehicles.
  • Exhibit leadership qualities while supervising children.
  • Implement safety measures during transportation routes.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records at the start of each program and during transitions.
  • Coordinate supply requests with the supervisor.
  • Establish effective communication with school staff.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of programs in alignment with YMCA guidelines.
  • Attend all required training sessions.
  • Consult with supervisors regarding any concerns related to student behavior or development.
  • Fulfill additional duties related to the successful operation of after-school programs.
  • Stay informed about current issues affecting program delivery.
  • Ensure high-quality service in all Out of School programs.
  • Maintain certifications in CPR, Bloodborne Pathogens, and emergency procedures.
  • Support all YMCA initiatives and community efforts.
  • Document and report any incidents or accidents as required.
  • Adhere to all YMCA policies and safety protocols.
  • Conduct wellness checks and ensure compliance with safety measures.
  • Create an engaging environment with diverse activities and instruction.
