Position SummaryThe selected candidate will be tasked with the engineering design, development, and production support of powertrain systems at the Peterbilt Division Headquarters. Responsibilities include engaging in new development initiatives, applying innovative approaches to transition concepts into reality, and providing engineering support across various expedited programs.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct complex design initiatives and perform necessary research related to these designs.
- Oversee design projects through planning, concept development, testing, and implementation phases.
- Effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Coordinate supplier activities concerning the design and production of components.
- Utilize knowledge of stress analysis and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
- Apply expertise in materials and manufacturing processes relevant to vehicle powertrain systems.
- Familiarity with Creo Parametric and Windchill is essential.
- Collaborate with other engineering teams and departments to ensure project success.
- Prepare detailed reports on engineering activities as required.
- Identify and prioritize production and quality assurance issues for resolution.
- Maintain proactive communication to define issues and achieve consensus.
- Exhibit professionalism in all interactions with internal and external stakeholders.
- Additional responsibilities as assigned.
- Willingness to travel up to 10-15% may be necessary.
- 4-9 years of experience in designing heavy trucks or their components.
- Proficient in PowerPoint and effective presentation skills.
- Strong skills in Excel, Word, and related software applications.
- A collaborative team player with a proactive approach and adaptability.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficient in using Creo Parametric or similar solid modeling software.
- Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools.
- Resourceful in applying established engineering processes to solve complex problems.
- Ability to manage resources effectively, demonstrating strong communication skills.
A Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is mandatory.
