Aircraft Mechanic I - Sheetmetal/Structural Specialty

We are seeking a highly skilled Aircraft Mechanic I - Sheetmetal/Structural Specialty to join our team at Amentum. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for troubleshooting and repairing malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces, and controls.

Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and repair malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces, and controls
  • Repair, replace, and rebuild aircraft structures, such as wings and fuselage, and functional components
  • Read and interpret manufacturers' and airline's maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, and engineering data
  • Perform 100-hour, progressive, isochronal, phase, periodic, and other hourly or calendar inspections
  • Inspect jet engine turbine blades to detect cracks, distortion, corrosion, burn-out, security, or breaks
  • Test engine operation using testing equipment, such as ignition analyzer, compression checker, distributor timer, ammeter, and jet calibration (Jetcal) tester
  • Adjust, repair, or replace electrical wiring system and aircraft accessories
  • Perform preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections
  • Supervise the jacking and towing of aircraft
  • Enter in the maintenance records description of the work performed and verify the work was performed satisfactorily
Requirements
  • Three years aviation maintenance experience
  • Two years rotary wing aircraft experience
  • Two years on the assigned Mission Design Series (MDS)
  • All experience must be within the six most recent years
  • A valid up-to-date A&P license is preferred but not required
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Must provide own tools/toolbox
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • Clearance Requirements: Must be able to obtain and maintain a NACI(T1) Public Trust Security Clearance
Working Conditions

Work is performed in a shop environment that is moderately lighted, heated, and ventilated. Is exposed to disagreeable fumes and to cuts and bruised from using tools in close placed and hazards of moving vehicles such as forklifts in shop area.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear.

The employee frequently is required to walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.

The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, or balance.

Frequently lifts items weighing 15-25 pounds and occasionally in excess of 45 pounds.
