Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Cook to join our team at Smithfield Foods. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of cooking experience in a well-rated restaurant and possess strong time management skills. Culinary training is preferred but not required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare food in accordance with food safety preparation guidelines, including cooking temperatures and times.
  • Present food on the plate in a visually appealing manner.
  • Follow recipes and product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving, and serving food items.
  • Inspect kitchen and food items for any signs of cross-contamination or spoilage.
  • Handle, store, label, and rotate products properly and in accordance with applicable state laws.
  • Clean kitchen on a daily schedule outlined by the executive chef.
  • Estimate expected food consumption and requisition or purchase supplies as needed.
  • Consult with supervisory staff to plan menus, considering factors such as costs and special event needs.
  • Assist in dish-washing and maintain a clean dish pit when the dishwasher is not available.
Requirements
  • 2+ years of cooking experience in a well-rated restaurant (preferred).
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Culinary training (preferred but not required).
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to uncompromising quality.
  • Customer service-focused and a team player with a willingness to help other employees when needed.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekend and evening shifts.
  • Ability to work shifts with long periods of walking and standing.
  • Food Handler's Card.
