Patient Care Associate

As a Patient Care Associate, you will work under the direction of a registered nurse to provide clinical support functions and promote a safe and compassionate patient care environment.
Key Responsibilities- Carry out patient care plans as directed by the registered nurse.
- Provide patient physical care, including bed baths, toileting, grooming, and changing bed linen, according to established guidelines.
- Perform patient monitoring activities, such as vital signs and blood glucose, according to established guidelines.
- Prepare patients for meals and assist with meeting their needs.
- Perform patient rounds regularly and answer call lights promptly to meet patient needs.
- Document patient care in a timely manner, adhering to established standards.
- Organize patient room clutter to maintain a clean and safe environment.
- Obtain and label specimens according to established procedures.
- Provide mentoring and teaching to new nursing assistants to meet performance expectations.
- Complete additional department, organization, or network activities according to established objectives.
Education/Degree:
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required, unless the candidate holds a nursing assistant certification.
Experience/Certification:
Recent experience and/or training in clinical patient care is required.
Preferred:
- Enrollment in a nursing, pre-med, or physician assistant undergraduate program, with a minimum of one semester of completed patient care rotations at the time of hire.
- Possession of a valid license, certification, or enrollment as a student in a nursing assistant, medical assistant, mental health technician, or EMT-accredited program at the time of hire.
Skills:
Required:
Effective verbal and written communication skills in the English language.
Basic skills in math and computer science.
Ability to perform, modify, and record all physical therapy skills with relevance to appropriate thoroughness and sequencing.
Healthcare Provider CPR certification required.
Knowledge of DPH/OEMS regulations.
Preferred:
Highly developed communications and interpersonal skills, working with diverse populations.
Ability to work independently, be self-directed, and contribute as a member of a team.
Anticipates challenges and develops and implements strategies for addressing them.
High level of service delivery.
