As a volunteer Guardian ad Litem, you will play a vital role in the life of a child who has been affected by abuse or neglect.

This challenging yet rewarding experience requires a proactive communicator, an objective thinker, and a committed individual who understands the importance of their role in a child's life.

Responsibilities:

  • Monthly meetings with assigned children to provide guidance, support, and encouragement
  • Ongoing communication with parents, social workers, teachers, and other stakeholders involved in the child's life
  • Gathering information about the child's needs and advocating for those needs within government and community systems
  • Preparing thorough reports for the judge prior to court dates, focusing on the child's best interests
  • Maintaining accurate records of advocacy efforts

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • A genuine interest in the well-being of children is essential
  • Commitment to a minimum of two years to ensure stability and consistency for the children served
  • Ability to successfully complete a comprehensive screening, background check, and training process
