Role Responsibilities

As a Senior Supply Chain Coordinator, your primary responsibility will be to oversee the distribution of supplies and materials across all serviced areas, ensuring that wards, clinics, operating rooms, and other healthcare facilities receive necessary items, including sterile and non-sterile medical supplies, instrument sets, and equipment. Key responsibilities include:
  • Distributing and managing workload among team members according to established workflows and ensuring timely completion of tasks;
  • Monitoring work status and making daily adjustments based on priorities;
  • Providing guidance and answering inquiries from team members regarding procedures, policies, and directives;
  • Maintaining stock levels at primary and secondary inventory locations, including pulling and replenishing stock, resolving customer issues, and keeping accurate records;
  • Conducting inventory checks using bar code technology and reconciling discrepancies between records and physical counts;
  • Ensuring cleanliness in accordance with infection control guidelines and local Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs);
  • Receiving and unpacking supplies, ensuring their integrity and sterility, and maintaining data accuracy in the inventory management system;
  • Collaborating with clinical and administrative staff, as well as external vendors, to coordinate supply management activities and resolve operational issues.
Requirements

Applicants must be U.S. Citizens and may be subject to a background/security investigation. Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is mandatory for all Veterans Health Administration personnel.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, candidates must demonstrate specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade in the normal line of progression for the occupation. Examples of relevant experience include:
  • Managing the distribution of medical supplies across various facility areas;
  • Utilizing bar-coding and inventory management systems for receiving, storing, and distributing supplies;
  • Training new employees and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of policies and procedures;
  • Monitoring stock levels and ensuring proper rotation of supplies;
  • Maintaining cleanliness in assigned areas according to aseptic principles;
  • Receiving and verifying the integrity of supplies upon delivery.
Physical Requirements

This position requires physical stamina, including standing and walking throughout the workday, frequent bending, and lifting of supply packages weighing up to 50 pounds. The role may involve pushing loaded carts of medical supplies exceeding 100 pounds.
