Job Overview

Shift: First Shift: Mon - Fri (7am to 3pm)

Compensation: $28-32/hr.

Location: York, PA

Position Summary:

  • Responsible for the setup and operation of CNC Vertical Turret Lathes to manufacture both metallic and non-metallic components.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Setup and operate VTLs, applying expertise in machining processes for various materials including stainless steel, Monel, Hastalloy, nickel alloys, cast iron, carbon steel, bronze, aluminum, and plastics.
  • Produce components within the specified timeframes outlined in job documentation.
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through quality products and services.
  • Collaborate with CNC Programmers to enhance efficiency and optimize machining processes, programs, and tooling.
  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives focusing on productivity, quality, safety, and ergonomics.

Essential Duties:

  • Independently set up and operate VTLs.
  • Demonstrate proficient knowledge of G Code and perform manual edits as necessary.
  • Interpret customer specifications and drawings, understanding Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances per ANSI Y-14.5.
  • Conduct inspections of produced work using precision measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers to ensure compliance with specifications, maintaining tolerances as close as 0.002" over 55" diameter.
  • Document inspection results as required.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of equipment and work area.
  • Follow preventative maintenance protocols and report any equipment issues.
  • Document daily activities to ensure adherence to performance standards.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues and management in a team-oriented setting.
  • Be available for overtime as needed to meet production demands.
  • Operate forklifts and handle products safely, with the ability to manage loads up to 4 tons.
  • Physically capable of standing, twisting, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Must have good hand-eye coordination.
  • Adhere to company policies regarding attendance, confidentiality, safety, and substance use.
  • May be required to perform additional job-related tasks as necessary.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Mastercam Programming.
  • Ability to set up and operate Horizontal Boring Mills and/or Horizontal/Vertical Machining Centers.
  • Familiarity with ISO-9001 or AS9100 Quality Standards.
