Firefighter - Volunteer

We are seeking highly motivated and dedicated individuals to join our team as Volunteer Firefighters with the City of Troy Fire Department. As a Volunteer Firefighter, you will play a critical role in providing emergency services to our community, responding to a wide range of incidents, and participating in training and equipment maintenance.
Key Responsibilities- Respond to emergency calls, including fires, rescues, and medical emergencies
- Operate firefighting equipment, including hoses, ladders, and rescue tools
- Participate in training sessions to maintain and improve skills
- Assist with equipment maintenance and cleaning
- Participate in community risk reduction services and public education programs
- Be at least 18 years of age and a high school graduate (or GED equivalent)
- Live or work within three (3) miles of a Troy Fire Station
- Have a valid Michigan driver license with a good driving record
- Pass a background check and medical examination
- Complete the Firefighter I & II training academy within the probationary time period
- Attend a minimum of 40 hours of training bi-annually to achieve 80 hours of training annually
- Respond to a minimum of 50% of incidents annually during predetermined hours of availability
Firefighting is a physically demanding job that requires a high level of physical fitness. As a Volunteer Firefighter, you will be required to wear personal protective equipment, including a self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), and perform tasks that may involve considerable personal risk and physical stress.
