Job Summary

This position plays a critical role in achieving sales profitability, growth, and account penetration within an assigned territory. The successful candidate will effectively sell Sysco's products, promote and secure orders from existing and prospective customers through a relationship-driven approach.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain business relationships with current and prospective customers to generate new business opportunities for Sysco's products and services.
  • Make in-person visits and presentations to existing and prospective customers to promote and sell Sysco's products.
  • Take customer orders with a focus on maximizing sales and gross profit/stop.
  • Participate in the review and oversight of customer orders via communication with inside sales partners.
  • Respond promptly to customer problems and needs.
  • Review and analyze daily/weekly sales and margin reports to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Stay up-to-date on product applications, technical services, market conditions, competitive activities, and trends in the industry.
  • Participate in Sysco's training and customer events, as well as sales meetings led by Sysco Sales leaders.
Requirements
  • High school diploma required; 4-year degree in culinary arts, business, marketing, agriculture/animal science, or related studies preferred.
  • 2-year prior food service and/or sales background strongly preferred.
  • Center of the Plate/Meat Proteins sales experience preferred.
Professional Skills
  • Deep expertise in the meat and seafood category or restaurant/culinary background with a demonstrated ability to quickly learn and apply new knowledge.
  • Consultative sales ability.
  • Self-motivation and accountability for time management without constant supervisor direction.
  • Strong customer relations skills and a sense of urgency in meeting customer needs.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency with MS Outlook.
Decision-Making Authority
  • Approach to building relationships with customers/stakeholders.
  • Time and customer management.
  • Customer pricing.
  • Self-motivation.
Organizational Reporting
  • Supervisor Title: Sales VP, Director, or Manager.
