Job Description:

OPEN SHIFT:
Administer ionizing radiation to patients producing diagnostic radiographs. Operate x-ray equipment, prepare patient exam rooms, equipment, supplies, and medications. Perform technical and ancillary tasks necessary to provide patient services per departmental and hospital policy.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Competency in the Following Areas:
  • Prepare exam rooms, equipment, accessories, and materials as needed for various exams.
  • Prepare and administer barium mixtures and other contrast agents for procedures as required.
  • Prepare patients for examination, explain procedures, assist patients on and off exam tables, position patients for exams.
  • Perform diagnostic radiographic procedures according to department policies and utilizing accepted techniques for patient positioning, exposure control, and radiation protection.
  • Observe and critique radiographs utilizing appropriate equipment.
  • Monitor patients' conditions during exams and report unusual occurrences to supervisors.
  • Perform portable diagnostic radiographic procedures as required.
  • Adhere to radiation safety procedures.
  • Be on-call for 3rd shift/holidays/weekends as scheduled.
  • Maintain cleanliness of patient exam rooms and other work areas.
  • Keep examination rooms stocked with necessary supplies and accessories.
  • Perform patient reception, registration, requisition processing, and filing in absence of or in conjunction with ancillary staff.
  • Other duties assigned.
  • Complete annual educational requirements. Attend inservices and meetings when required.
  • Adhere to dress code, appearance is neat and clean.
  • Maintain current knowledge of ethical business practices and hospital policies and adhere to all policies.
  • Adhere to all HIP and DHHS privacy and security regulations.
  • Report to work on time and as scheduled, complete work within designated time.
  • Wear identification while on duty, use computerized punch time system correctly.
  • Represent the organization in a positive and professional manner.
  • Support CMH on the continuous culture improvement journey aimed at improving customer satisfaction and employee relations.
  • Accountability to provide service excellence to our patients and co-workers.


Regulatory Requirements:

  • Associate's degree or equivalent from accredited program in radiologic technology.


Skills:

  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


License or Certificate Required:

  • Certification and licensed through IEMA and ARRT required. CT experience is also required.
