Compensation Structure: Hourly

Position Summary:

The primary function of this role is to fabricate and weld steel components in accordance with specified blueprints. The MIG Welder is expected to utilize specialized equipment to weld and assemble new metal structures.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Produce and fabricate completed metal products.
  2. Adhere to blueprints to fulfill product specifications.
  3. Measure materials accurately to ensure compliance with specifications.
  4. Conduct evaluations to assess weld quality and tolerances.
  5. Assemble and weld various structures and sub-assemblies, including performing tasks such as filing and burring.
  6. Utilize experience and judgment to plan and achieve objectives.
  7. Collaborate within a team environment to meet quality and quantity requirements based on customer demands.
  8. Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  9. Safely operate all relevant equipment.
  10. Independently operate and maintain a MIG welder.
  11. Execute additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Experience or technical training as a structural welder, capable of joining, fabricating, and welding metal tubes and pipes.

Travel Requirements:

This position involves minimal to no travel.

Technical Skills:

  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Demonstrated experience with EPICOR ERP or similar systems.

Additional Requirements:

  1. Ability to perform MIG welding on thin gauge mild steel and other weldable materials using appropriate techniques.
  2. Proficient in reading and interpreting tape measures, weld symbols, and welding gauges.
  3. Capable of understanding blueprint specifications, diagrams, or schematics to determine and apply suitable welding processes.
  4. Fabrication skills.
  5. Competent in MIG welding.
  6. Able to recognize and adhere to AWS standards.

Essential Skills:

  1. Timeliness in completing work tasks.
  2. Compliance with company policies and procedures.
  3. Minimization of downtime.
  4. Participation in scheduling systems to ensure smooth operations across disciplines.
  5. Reduction of lead time from order to delivery for customers.
  6. Adherence to and enforcement of all safety policies as established by Porter Corp.
